KNOWN ALIASES: Frank the Tank

CURRENT BIKES: The Trek Remedy 9er for the woods and the Gary Fisher Mendota for the concrete.

ALL TIME FAVORITE TRAIL: R-Line. I helped design and build it and could hop on my bike in the garage and be riding it within 5 minutes. Hard to beat that! A close second would be the legendary A-Line up at Whistler. It's a perennial favorite of so many riders because it has it all - lots of differently modulated jumps, big fast berms, drops, bridges and all linked together in a long smooth continuous flow.

CURRENT FAVORITE TRICK: My favorite trick is a good 360. I’ve always wanted to learn them but have never had the right conditions to practice them. I’ve come close as a kid on a BMX bike but never landed one cleanly. One of these days I’ll get them down. My favorite trick that I can throw consistently is the old trusty right side turn down. I used to throw a mean table top as well but that was back in high school when I could still throw that proverbial football over the mountains.

MOST ADMIRED RIDER AND WHY: Hands down it’s definitely Shaun Palmer. He’s the guy that put the US on the DH map back in the 90s and is perhaps arguably the world’s all time most natural athletes for his ability to dominate in so many categories – mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, motocross, snowmobile and curling – ok, maybe not curling but you get the general idea. You know you’ve made it when you can charge $1,800 for your signature line snowboard.

WHY DO YOU RIDE?
It’s a healthy activity that I get to enjoy with people that I like to hang out with. It’s also another great outlet for creativity in designing and building trails and helping others with their projects. There’s nothing better than listening in on a conversation about a rider being totally stoked about some trail out in Snoqualmie and wondering my other trails aren’t built like them.

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:
My kids. I still have no idea how they got here. J Watching Sam rip up Whistler last year was just plain crazy. The kids got a fever and the only thing that is going to cure him is More Cowbell. Working with Will out on the trails is like watching an army of Red Ants devour a forest. I’m still teaching Julia how to ride her bike but she has a photo of Jill Kintner posted on her wall in her bedroom so I can only imagine what is going through her mind. Kids they are the future. Hoping they help me out when I’m in the pasture.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH WITH THE DIRT CORPS:
Help to create more local venues for riders. Build Now for Glory of Future!

OTHER RIDING / LIFE GOALS
: Stay healthy through mountain biking and building. Attend the World Cup and root for team USA!
